It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Logan Masami Tao, a vibrant soul who left us way too soon on October 8, 2024, in his beloved hometown of Whittier, California. Logan was just 13 years old, born on December 13, 2010, and throughout his brief time with us he filled the lives of those around him with joy, laughter, and an unmatched curiosity.
Logan was a kid who embraced life with open arms. He loved to sing and dance—his impromptu performances always brought smiles and sometimes even spontaneous cheers from family and friends. If you ever caught him watching "Encanto" or "PJ Masks," there’s a good chance you’d see him totally engrossed, probably singing along with his favorite characters. His creative spirit also shone through his interest in photography, where he captured the world through his unique lens.
A proud member of the community, Logan, attended several local schools, including the Leffingwell infant program, Ceres Pre-school, Leffingwell elementary, and Granada middle school. His bright light was nurtured by the love and support of so many around him, including friends made through Club 21. Logan’s circle of love was also expanded through Emma’s participation with NCL-Whittier.
Friendship meant everything to Logan. His family-parents Gaby and Russell Tao, sister Emma, Grandmother Carmen, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and godparents- meant the world to him. He was a beacon of joy in their lives, and they will cherish the countless memories they made together, always keeping his warm smile and laughter alive in their hearts.
Logan was baptized at St. Mary's Church in Whittier, a special event that marked his connection to faith and the community he adored.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will be held on November 5, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00PM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, located at 7215 Newlin Ave, Whittier, CA 90602. Following this, a Mass will take place the next day, November 6, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM.
Logan may no longer walk among us, but the love he shared and the memories he created will forever resonate in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Logan, your light will never fade. Heaven has gained another angel.
