Lila Grace Stephenson

Lila Stephenson was born at home in Ringo County, Iowa . She was the 7th of 8 children. She grew up on a farm helping her father milk the cows. She finished high school then moved to El Paso, Texas to help her sister, Jessie with her new daughter, Virginia while Jessie's husband served in the Army. They later moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she met her husband George. From there, they moved to Preshaw, S.D. where his sister lived. Despising the cold, snowy weather in South Dakota, when George got offered a job in California, she told him he'd best take the job because she was moving to California. They moved to Huntington Park in 1951 and very shortly Lila got a job working for Security Pacific Bank and in 1955 had her only child, Pam.



George passed away when Pam was 3 so Lila became a father and mother. She not only raised a daughter but, was very influentual in so many other lives. She was a staple resident of Bell, California where everyone new they could come for advise and love. Many people came and stayed and then moved on.



She retired from Los Angeles County Courts & Records after 25 years of service, then moved to Whittier to be nearer her daughter and son in law Larry, and grandson Randy. She loved doting over her grandson! Lila then began traveling with her sister Jessie, Pam, Larry and occasionally with another sister Hazel. She really enjoyed her retirement managing to take at least 10 cruises and other types of tours and trips!! She loved to share about all her travels with her friends and anyone that would listen. She had a positive influence on all who knew her and was an exceptional example of a life well lived!!



Her grandson could do no wrong and soon he and Xiomara would have, first Randy Jr, then Neo, two great grandsons that were the apple of her eyes!! She loved and cherished them with all her heart!
