Leonard James Clayton

Leonard James Clayton was born in Marksville, Louisiana on November 25, 1939 to Gulfred and Gertrude Clayton.



At nine, Leonard made his first communion; little did he know, his future wife was making hers as well. A few years later, when Jackie was 15, and Leonard was 17, the two were brought together again. On September 17, 1960 they were married. Together, the couple raised their family of three children, and shared a marriage of over fifty-two years.



Leonard and his family lived in La Mirada for 47 years. For 50 years he worked at Lien Rubber Co. in Los Angeles. He was a big sports fan, especially when it came to the Dodgers, USC, and the Lakers. He had many hobbies including: drawing, painting, dancing, and working around his home, which one could say he built himself. He also coached little league baseball and football in La Mirada. He treasured each of his children and grandchildren and took great pride and enjoyment in attending their events.



Leonard passed away on April 23, 2013 at his home in La Mirada. Leonard is survived by his wife Jackie, his daughter Kim Salce and her husband Ray, his son Brock Clayton and his wife Jen, and his daughter Lorin Taylor. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon Salce, Carly Salce, Katie Clayton, Gabrielle Taylor, Whitney Taylor, Cameron Salce, Beth Clayton, Mark Salce, Pierce Taylor and his great-grandson Brandon Salce Jr. He is also survived by his sister Gladys Davis and brother Hal Clayton.



There will be a Memorial Funeral Mass held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:30am at Beatitudes of Our Lord Catholic Church at 13013 Santa Gertrudes Ave, La Mirada, California 90638.
