Leonard Galindo Felix was born November 6, 1921 in Durango, Mexico to Pedro and Mary (Galindo) Felix. He passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Whittier, California.He moved to Los Angeles at a young age and attended Custer Elementary, Central Junior High School, and Belmont High School where he was on the gymnastics team.He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for 9 months.Upon returning to the United States he married his long-time sweetheart, Marie, on July 22, 1945 at La Placita Church in Los Angeles. Shortly after marrying they moved to Pico Rivera and then to Whittier where he lived for 50 years. Leonard worked most of his life as a welder. He also enjoyed golf and woodworking.Leonard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie; daughters Theresa 'Terri' La Fleur (Jerry) and Debbie (Greg) Overbeck; and son Leonard (Lisa) Felix; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Alice and many nieces and and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, sister, Lupe and brother Robert.Viewing will take place from 6:00 - 9:00pm on Monday, August 6, 2012, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Phildelphia St., Whittier, California. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am the following morning, August 7,2012, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 8545 Norwalk Boulevard, Whittier, California, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 Potrero Grande Rd., Montebello, California.
