Leon Louis Pellissier

Leon Louis Pellissier died peacefully at his home in Whittier, CA on August 11, 2014 at the age of 91. Leon was born in Upland, CA on April 29, 1923 to parents Leon Albert Pellissier and Gladys Genevieve Nuffer Pellissier. Leon along with his four younger siblings: Joanne, Henri, Pierre and Francois grew up on the family ranch in Chino, CA.
Upon completing his education in the public schools in Chino, Leon went off to college to UC Berkeley. In early 1943 he was inducted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Asiatic Pacific. At the end of 1945 after receiving the Bronze Star, Leon was Honorably Discharged and returned to his academic pursuits attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
1948 in San Luis Obispo, CA Leon married Wilda Francis. Together Leon and Wilda had 6 children: Jim Pellissier, Carol Pursuit, Leslie Pellissier, Andre Pellissier, Martine Martinez and Paul Pellissier. Leon was preceded in death by his wife Wilda and son Paul.
In 1952, Leon moved with his family to Whittier where he began working in various aspects of the Pellissier family business. He was also active in both the American Legion and the Rotary Club. In the mid 90s Leon volunteered for Whittier Meals on Wheels and remained with them for over 10 years.
In 1994, Leon married Kati Carson, with whom he shared his love of reading and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Kati, brother Henri Pellissier, 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday August, 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St. Whittier, CA 90601
