Kenneth Daniel Bascom

August 30, 1949 — June 25, 2012

Kenneth Daniel Bascom was born on August 30, 1949 in Glendale, CA. His parents, Harry and Alma Bascom, raised him on an acre of land in Temple City, CA with his 2 brothers Eddy and Steve and his sister Carolyn. As he grew, it became clear that he was a serious thinker and an earnest spirit. At the age of 17, he enrolled at Biola College in La Mirada, CA, the school where his parents had met. He studied history there and nearly got kicked out due to his liberal views. More importantly however, he met Greer Eagleson in 1968. They were married on June 20, 1970, and stayed that way for the rest of his life. Biola continued to be his ministry for all his life, as he worked both in Facilities Services and Facilities Planning. It is difficult to walk around the campus of Biola University and not see his mark on the buildings he helped realize. Perhaps the most important one to him was the new library, which was dedicated in 2001.He and Greer had two children. Joel Wallace was born in 1975, and Faith Elisabeth was born in 1978. He was a loving and dedicated father to them. He modeled his faith to them through instruction and example. He enjoyed taking them to baseball games and going to Disneyland. He and his son Joel were at Dodger Stadium for Game 1 of the 1988 World Series when Kirk Gibson hit one of the most famous home runs in baseball history. His daughter Faith remembers him waking her up early every morning to go to band practice in high school and going to McDonald's for breakfast together each Wednesday. When Stephanie Teays and Charles Koontz became part of his family, they became his children as well. As his 6 grandchildren entered the world (Corrie, Peter, Jack, Caleb, Wesley and Joel), he absolutely loved them and found unique ways of connecting with each of them.Kenneth Daniel passed away on June 25th, 2012. He loved truth, his family, music, reading, golf, baseball and writing poetry to his loved ones. He was completely dependant on Jesus Christ as his savior and friend. His family, friends and coworkers will all miss him. To God Alone Be the Glory
