Born Kathryn LaMonte Clapham on July 20th, 1922 to Waldo and Carrie Clapham in Mutual, Oklahoma. She was one of four siblings who accompanied by their parents, would venture west to California as refugees from the great dust bowl. They settled in the Los Angeles area.
Known by most as Kae, she attended Plymouth Congregational Church with her husband Robert and volunteered weekly at Presbyterian Inter-community Hospital. Accompanied by Robert and a number of their close friends from the Lions Club and the Shrine Club, she traveled widely and saw lands far from her humble beginnings.
