Kathleen Gertrude May Robinson

Kathleen Gertrude May Robinson, 95, passed away at her home in Whittier on Tuesday morning, August 11, 2015. Born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 19, 1920, Kathleen was born to her parents Joseph & Helen (Von Schulien) Baker. She was married to her husband, James W. Robinson, in August 1945 and together they had three daughters, Linda, Barbara and Cynthia.



As a young girl, Kathleen grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Her parents moved to northern California and she attended high school in San Jose. After school, she joined the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), a division of the United States Naval Reserve, which she served in during WWII. She was stationed in Oakland, California, and it was during her service there that she met her husband James, a Captain in the U.S. Army.

They were married in San Jose at Trinity Episcopal Church.



After both Kathleen and James were discharged from the military they moved south to Glendale, then Pico, before finally settling in Whittier. She was a true professional homemaker, keeping her home 'inspection ready' at all times. Kathleen was very devoted to her involvement in church, particularly St. Matthias Episcopal Church, where she helped with various ministries over the years. She loved to travel and visited every state in the continental U.S. Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family.



Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Robinson (1994). She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ray) Jackson, Barbara Shelby, and Cynthia (Ed) Murray; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.



A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 11:30 AM at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 7056 Washington Ave., Whittier. A Viewing will be held the evening prior, Monday, August 17, 2015, from 5:00 PM 8:00 PM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier. Private Interment will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier.
