Julio L Martinez

Julio J Martinez was born on May 22, 1937 in Los Angeles, California to Jose and Aurelia (Lopez) Martinez. He was raised in East Los Angeles and attended Garfield High School where he ran track.



On June 27, 1959 Julio married Stella Hernandez. The couple raised two children; Loretta and Tom. J and Stella raised their family in Whittier and lived there for 45 years.



As a profession, Julio worked for Continental Can Company and served as their Union Representative. J retired from Continental Can, but soon returned to the workforce as a school bus driver for Whittier Pupil Transportation. After another 15 years of work with Whittier Pupil Transportation he retired a second time.



Julio had many hobbies and interests. He loved sports. Whether it was playing, watching or coaching, he enjoyed it. He especially loved cheering on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved cooking for his family.



On Monday, January 20, 2014 Julio passed away in Whittier, California. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Stella, his two children, Loretta Soto, Tom Martinez, his four grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Christopher and Amanda, two great grandchildren, Noah and Mia, and many dear friends.



A memorial service will be held at White Emerson Mortuary on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11:00am.
