Joseph Manuel Maldonado

Joseph Manuel Maldonado was born November 16, 1915 in New Mexico to Tiofilo and Guadalupe (Rojas) Maldonado. Orphaned at the age of 3, Joseph moved around a bit from relative to relative, mostly in Los Angeles County, California. He went to school in the East Los Angeles area graduating from Lincoln High School.On June 16, 1940, Joe married Mary Himes in Los Angeles, California. They made their home in Rosemead and Joe worked for the county as a surveyor for approximately 30 years. Following retirement, Joe and Mary moved to Apple Valley where he lived until the time of his death.Joseph was very devoted to his family. He was very humble and always worked hard to provide. He enjoyed reading and was very devout in his Catholic faith. Among his greatest accomplishments was his marriage of almost 65 years!Mr. Maldonado is survived by his daughter, Linda (Bob) Sagona; sons, Arnold (Lois) and Ralph (Joyce) Maldonado; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. A Vigil Service will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, December 28th and Mass will be celebrated at 10am the following morning both at St. Joseph's Salesian Novitiate and Youth Renewal Center, 8301 Arroyo Drive, Rosemead, CA. Viewing will take place prior to each service. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, California.
