Joseph (Guiseppe) LaBanca was born on April 13, 1931 in Cersosimo, Italy to Vincenzo and Maria (Adduci) LaBanca. He passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in Chino, California, at the age of 86.
Joe, as he was known, grew up in Cersosimo. At the age of 18 he went to Milano for more opportunities and took a job with a furniture manufacturing company. As he learned the carpentry trade there, he also served in the Italian army for two years. After ten years he returned back to Cersosimo.
Joe married Mary Calabrese on December 6, 1959 in Cersosimo, and immigrated to the United States the following year, where they would establish their home in Southern California. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Vincent, Dino and Lorella. Upon arriving in the States, Joe found work as a cabinet maker, eventually opening his own business in cabinetry, LaBanca Cabinets in Santa Fe Springs.
Joe was an active member of the Sons of Italy of America, holding numerous positions within the organization during his 49 years as a member, including serving as State President from 2007 to 2009.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed family gatherings and spending time in the mountains. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling and hunting.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary, one son, Dino, one daughter, Lorella (Mark) Rochlitz, and four grandchildren, Mark, Gianna, Enzo and Alisia.
