John David Bogy, Jr., passed away suddenly at his home in Whittier on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 66. Born in Los Angeles on September 22, 1951, John was born to his parents, John David Bogy & Marilyn Anne (Everett) Bogy. Johns personality was always larger than life and he was always giving of his time and talents to help out those in his life. He will be greatly missed.
John and his family grew up in Pico Rivera. He attended St. Hilary Grammar School and went on to Cantwell High School in Montebello. In 1969, he was drafted into the US Army. He completed his boot camp training in Fort Lewis, Washington, before serving as a Military Policeman (MP) in the Presidio in San Francisco. After he was discharged from the military, he went back home and attended Rio Hondo College. John had the skill of knowing how most things worked. He was a gifted handyman and was also trained as an electrician. While he worked throughout the greater Whittier area taking on these types of jobs, John always brought so much more to his work than just the skills of an electrician/handyman. A huge laugh; a listening ear; a word of timely advicethese were the real skills that John was known for in his work.
John was deeply dedicated to his faith. He served faithfully as an alter server at St. Marys of the Assumption Catholic Church for many years. John also enjoyed fellowshipping at Calvary Baptist Church in Uptown Whittier. He was an active member of AA and his faith was strengthened as he devoted himself to serving others.
John is survived by his eight siblings, Matt, Andy, Jim, Bart, Hilary, Maura, Cecilia and MaryAnn; his 29 nieces & nephews; his 26 great nieces & nephews; 4 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws and the countless friends whose lives he touched.
