Jessie Ruth Medina

Jessie Ruth Medina was born January 2, 1929, in East Los Angeles, California, to Criscencio and Juana Gomez. She passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, in Whittier, California, at the age of 88.



Fina, as she was affectionately known, grew up and went to school in East LA and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles. On January 23, 1952, Jessie married the love of her life, Joe B. Medina, at The Wedding Chapel on Broadway Street in Los Angeles. The eventually made their home in Norwalk, California, where they raised their 3 children, Steven, David and Theresa.



As a young woman, Fina worked for Sears. She was blessed to be able to stay home once the kids came along, helping others in the neighborhood by watching their kids. She enjoyed a good cup of Joe, singing, dancing, and reading the Bible and the Sunday paper. Jessie loved the Lord! She was a devout Christian who faithfully attended church at New Harvest Church in Norwalk until her health no longer allowed it.



Fina especially loved her family. She leaves behind her three children, Steven Medina, David (Rose Marie Medina, and Theresa Rondinelli; grandchildren, Joshua Medina, Mark Medina, Andrea Berger, and Gina Rondinelli; great-grandchildren, Joshua Rondinelli, Audree Rondinelli, Adrianna Ramos, and Adrian Ramos; and her brother, Freddy Gomez. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Medina, and by her son-in-law, Thomas Rondinelli.



A memorial service is scheduled for 10am on Friday, March 24, 2017, at College Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 8221 College Avenue, Whittier, California. Private interment will take place at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
