Jane May Agee

January 30, 1924 — September 24, 2014

Jane May Agee was born on January 30, 1924 in Southbridge, Massachusetts to Stacy Lyons and Grace Ernestine Cole. Jane grew up in Southbridge and then moved to Webster, MA where she graduated from Webster Bartlett High School. During her high school years she lived near Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg; a place which impressively she could spell until a few days before her death.

In her young adult years, Jane served as a World War II volunteer and was one of the first women to join the United States Marines. In 1948 Jane married Robert Lee Agee. The couple lived in Downey, California and had one son, Richard Todd Agee.

Jane was an active volunteer. She worked with PIH Hospice, the Republican Party, Woodworkers, Meals on Wheels, Literacy, worked with polio victims, and was president of the PTA where she received PTA Honorary Life Member Award. She was also involved with Rivera First Baptist Church and Whittier First Baptist Church. In addition to her volunteering, she also enjoyed music and playing the piano.

In 2004, her husband Robert passed away. In later years she found a loving companion in Gilbert Pete Mocogni.

On September 24, 2014, at the age of 90, Jane passed away at her home in Whittier, California. She leaves behind her son Richard and his wife Maria Helena, companion Pete, grandchildren Ryan, Melissa and Sean, cousin Dot, and beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
