Imogene R. Wicker

Imogene Gene R. Wicker passed away in Whittier, California on December 2, 2018 at the age of 88. She was born to Douglas and Louise Ritchie on February 7, 1930 in Long Beach, California. She grew up as a self-described Army brat, living in many different places throughout her growing-up years. She would eventually come to live in Whittier where she attended Whittier College, earning her Bachelors Degree. She was married David Wicker on August 25, 1950 and together they had two children, Jeffrey & Jill.
Gene had a heart for education. For over 40 years, Gene was an educator in the East Whittier School District. After many years, Gene and David were divorced, but always stayed a part of each others lives caring for the kids and checking in on each other. Her children always reflect what a strong & tenacious spirit she had. Among her many pastimes, she enjoyed gardening, dancing and hosting gathering for her neighbors and friends. She was an excellent hostess. She also had an insatiable love for dogs. In her later years, she also enjoyed taking short road trips with her longtime companion Bill Parks to places such as Hawaii.
Imogene is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Kathie) Wicker and daughter, Jill (Michael) Minn; grandchildren, Camden and Alex Wicker; as well as many friends.
A graveside service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park on December 15th at 10:00am.
