Howard E. Normandin was born on May 4, 1921 in Los Angeles, California to parents Ovila and Ethel Normandin. He grew up in Los Angeles, California where he graduated from Loyola High School in 1940 and went on to attend UCLA. Howard proudly served the United States in the U.S. Army where he was a part of the 526th Ordinance Company of the Armored Division of the 1st U.S. Army. While serving in the Army Howard received 5 Battle Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a part of the Arrowhead D-Day Invasion and D-Day plus One. On June 2, 1951 he married Ann Roddy of Co. Roscommon, Ireland.Mr. Normandin was an active member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Whittier, California. He took pleasure in raising orchids and watching sports, especially football and basketball, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports, dance events, and graduations.Howard Normandin, a member of 'America's Greatest Generation', passed away on January 30, 2011 at his residence in Whittier, California. He is survived by his wife Ann Normandin and their eight children: daughters Mary (Bruce) Freeman, Sheila (Steve) Wiley, Joanne (Dave) Buto, Monica (Frank) Caliri, and sons Tom (Mary) Normandin, Pat (Kim) Normandin, Greg (Tiffany) Normandin, and Michael (Mary) Normandin.
