Hilda Ann Huckins, aka Hap, was born on October 19, 1926 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania to Hilda and William Powers. She passed away on July 14, 2014 in Rosemead, California at the age of 87.
A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Pennsylvania, Hap grew up in the Philadelphia area with her two siblings, Thomas and Miriam. She married Walter R. Huckins, a decorated veteran of World War II, in 1949. The two relocated to Southern California in 1957, settling in Arcadia, CA to raise their son, Todd Robert Huckins.
Hap loved spending time with neighbors and friends and adored Southern California and all that it had to offer. She loved to travel, go to the movies and enjoy an occasional glass of Old Overholt Rye Whiskey. Her eyes had a wonderful twinkle and she greeted everyone she met with a big smile. She had a knack for making people feel special.
Todd and Carol would like to express their gratitude to family and friends for the love and friendship that they extended to Hap throughout her life, and particularly after she suffered a stroke in 2011.
If desired, in memory donations may be made to the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (www.hstt.org), the organization that rescued Haps beloved companion, Josie.
