Helen Louise Sherwood

Helen Louise Sherwood was born January 27, 1925 in East Detroit, Michigan, to Carl Henry and Flora (Cooper) Maas. She passed away October 24, 2012 in La Mirada, California at the age of 87.



Helen grew up and went to school in the Detroit area. In 1950 her family moved to California. She married Walter Sherwood in December of 1959. They made their home in La Mirada, California, where they raised their two sons, Keith Allen and Neil Walter.



Mrs. Sherwood loved to travel and, at one time, she worked as a travel agent. The majority of her career, however, was spent as an accounting clerk for a grocery chain. Helen was a member of Granada Heights Friends Church and taught Bible study for several years. Many years ago, she also taught children how to swim.



Survivors include her sons, Keith and Neil Sherwood; grandson, Chad Sherwood; and brother, Carl H. Maas. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and a granddaughter, Fairren.



A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Granada Heights Friends Church, 11818 La Mirada Blvd., La Mirada, California. Private interment will take place at Olive Lawn Memorial Park in La Mirada, California.
