Helen Louise Marshall was born on March 23, 1923 in Salamanca, New York to Wilfred and Adelaide Thompson. She was one of seven children and was raised in New York.
Helen married Bruce Henry Marshall on June 28, 1947 and the couple started a family in New York. In 1957, Helen and Bruce moved to Whittier, California where they lived the rest of their lives. They raised a family of eight children and were very involved in the Whittier community.
Gardening and reading were passions of Helen. She was also involved in St. Marys Altar Society and Whittier Life Center for over 35 years. She volunteered for many years as a school librarian at St. Marys School.
On July 4, 2014 at the age of 91, Helen was reunited with her husband Bruce, brother Bill, and grandchildren Christopher Michael Kenitzer and Helen Marie Cheney in the presence of the Lord. She leaves behind her eight children, Liz, Mark, Colleen, Louise, Anita, Jennifer, Gerard and Steve, four siblings, Ann, Eva, Mary, Don and Dean, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A vigil service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 7:00pm at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier, California and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Whittier, California on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 11:15am followed by the Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, California.
