Harry Richard Shuptrine, 87, was born June 23, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to Harry and Vera (Ezard) Shuptrine. He passed away January 31, 2012 in Whittier, California after extended illness. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Gate 17, Whittier, California. Harry served as a B-17 bomber pilot in the 398th Bomb Group stationed in England during WWII and successfully flew 35 missions over Europe. After discharge, he gained a BS in chemical engineering at the University of Michigan. Most of his professional career was spent with Pacific Tube Company of Commerce, California. Harry was also a councilman for the City of Montebello and later with the City of Irvine. Harry is survived by his son Greg and his wife Marion Shuptrine, his daughter Candia Smith and her husband Jon Winge, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His loss is also mourned by his brother Calvert and his wife Marilyn Shuptrine, and his sister Betty and her husband Jim Love. His wife Beverly predeceased him early last year and she was greatly missed by him.
