Harold Lee Koehn was born to Jesse H. and Catrina Boehs Koehn on February 20, 1931. He grew up in Cimarron, Kansas and graduated from Cimarron High School. He was the seventh child of twelve children, but the first born son.He joined the United States Navy on August 31, 1951 and was honorably discharged on August 30, 1955. He achieved the rank of Machinery Repairman Second Class. While in the Navy he was awarded four medals, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (4 stars) and the United Nations Service Medal.While he was in San Diego, California with the Navy, his older sister, Shirley Koehn, would drive down on the weekends and pick him up and take him home to South Gate where he would go to church at the South Gate Nazarene Church. There he heard the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and was saved. He also met his bride, Neveta June Jones. Harold and Neveta were married in South Gate on July 12, 1957.They lived in South Gate for six years where they had their first son, Brad. Then they moved to La Mirada where the rest of their children were born - Mark, Michael and Tamara.After leaving the Navy, he went back to Cimarron and worked on the farm with his father. Later he moved to South Gate, California and was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. After he moved to La Mirada, he transferred to the La Mirada Post Office. He retired from the Post Office in 1993.Once he became a Christian, he was faithfully serving in the church. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in La Mirada for many years. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent, taught an Adult Sunday School class, cleaned the church, and attended the prayer meetings on Sunday morning as well as Wednesday evenings. Later he became a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton, California. There he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class, and enjoyed the teaching of the pastors. He served in various capacities as God would provide opportunities.At home, Harold was the spiritual leader of his home. He loved and cared for his wife Neveta and their children. He faithfully prayed every morning for his family. He would always get up very early to have a time reading and studying the Bible and praying. He taught his children that living as a Christian was more than just going to church on Sundays. He demonstrated to them that it was a relationship with Jesus that took time, and the time was laborious but joyous.As each of his children left home were married and had grandchildren, he enjoyed hearing how they were doing and as his grandchildren were born he expanded his prayer time to include them as well. He would pray for their salvation, their current needs as well as their future spouse. He has been blessed with eighteen grandchildren.Harold Lee Koehn was called home to be with his Lord on January 19, 2012. He was eighty years old. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse H. Koehn and mother, Catrina Boehs Koehn, two brothers Jackie and Floyd Koehn and four sisters Shirley Koehn, Malee Van Norden, Josie Koehn and Olivie Koehn. He is survived by his wife Neveta Koehn, his three sons, Brad Koehn from Crowley Lake, California, Mark Koehn from Celina, Texas, Michael Koehn from Lilburn, Georgia and one daughter, Tamara Ball from Whittier, California. He is also survived by four sisters, Bobetta Speer of Dodge City, Kansas, Peggy Speer of Cimarron, Kansas, Jeanette Monroe of Topeka, Kansas, Dixie Hertel of Cimarron, Kansas and one brother Max Koehn of Oceanside, California.
