Guadaulpe Ventura Valenzuela

September 8, 1931 — May 15, 2017

Guadalupe Lupe Ventura Valenzuela of La Mirada, CA, racecar builder and longtime owner of Whittier Muffler, died in Whittier. He was 85. Lupe was born in Whittier, owned and operated Whittier Muffler for 60 years, was a Master Mason at Cornerstone Masonic Lodge in La Habra and supported the Boys & Girls Club. He played saxophone and football at Whittier High School, served in the U.S. Army 1952 - 1954 and in the Army Reserves for eight years. He loved jazz, restoring and racing cars, and setting land speed records with his 1929 street roadster 344 Troys Toy at El Mirage and Bonneville Salt Flats. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children Troy, Curtis and Cerise; and eight grandchildren. A service will be held at noon, Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Cornerstone Masonic Lodge, 1701 W. La Habra Blvd., La Habra. A reception will follow.
