Gregory Paul Thorstenson, 64, passed away peacefully in Whittier on July 16, 2018 after battling chronic pain for the past two years. Greg was born on January 2, 1954 in Lynwood, California to his late parents Dyke and Lee Thorstenson of Whittier. In 1978, Greg married the love of his life, Sandy (Sanchez) Thorstenson, and was a devoted Dad/Mr. Mom to Timari, and brother to Kathy Erickson and Kim Thorstenson-Root. He will be cherished and loved forever by additional family, including Butch and Virginia Sanchez, Gilbert Sanchez, Eva Sanchez, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Greg was a masterful landscape architect who left all the spaces in Southern California he touched immensely the better and more beautiful. Greg will also be remembered by numerous friends for his more-than-generous, honest, caring friendship and love. He influenced many lives and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 3:00pm at St. Brunos Catholic Church in Whittier. A vigil service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 7:00pm at St. Brunos Church. A private interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Whittier Union High School District Educational Foundation, 9401 Painter Ave., Whittier, CA 90605.
