Godeleba Bazan

July 6, 1927 — October 13, 2010

Born in Durango Mexico, to Mr. Cresensio Ruiz and Mrs. Columba Garcia, died peacefully in her home on October 13, 2010, Bell Gardens, California surrounded by her loved ones.Survived by her husband, Faustino Bazan, four children; Sheila Holt, Goodman, MO, Maria Avena, Whittier, CA, Elsa Castanon, La Habra, CA, John Bazan, Palos Verdes, CA, three grandsons, eleven granddaughters, and six great grandchildren.Godeleba migrated to the United States in 1966, in search of greater opportunities for her children. She resided in Bell Gardens for over forty years; where she worked at Garfield Elementary School. She also babysat for many of her neighbors' children. Goldie loved her family, church, and friends. She was a dedicated and loving mother who would endure great sacrifice to meet her family's needs. She would work tirelessly to accomplish what she set out to do. There was never an option to give up. She was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church where she volunteered many years of service raising funds towards building the new church and other needs. Goldie had many friends within and outside of her community. She would often invite friends to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry after church. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and once in a while a trip to a local casino. Goldie enjoyed the scenery and comradery of the trip to the casino, just as much a playing the slot machines. On the freeway, she would see the sign that read 'Wildomar' and would comment excitedly that we were close to the casino. Goldie took great pleasure in life's more simple luxuries.Goldie was loved tremendously by her family; she was indeed the matriarch of her family. She has anchored her love with everyone she has touched. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.We love you Goldie!
