George Andrew Klingelhoefer was born on May 16, 1923 in Chicago, Il. to George Carl and Julia (Sheldon) Klingelhoefer. He grew up with his younger sister, June.
He attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, for one year before entering into the military service on January 2, 1943, where he served on a destroyer in the Pacific during World War II.
He ended his military service in Key West, Florida, at the Fleet Ground School, in November, 1945.
George and Betty Smith, were married on June 26, 1945, in Walton County, Georgia.
He is survived by Andy Klingelhoefer, son; Cheryl Sanchez, daughter; Daughter in Law, Valarie Brown Klingelhoefer; Grandchildren, Brent Klingelhoefer and wife, Erin, Daniel Sanchez, Amanda Purnell and husband, Ryan, Michael Sanchez; Great Grand Children, Amorette and Layla Purnell.
After leaving the service, George worked in Chicago, Il., San Francisco, CA.,and Palo Alto, CA.
He retired from government service in 1983. After retiring, he lived in Mountain Ranch, CA., Tulare,CA.,Marina, CA., and Whittier, CA.
His hobbies and interests was in serving others through his church and service clubs. He also enjoyed singing, puzzles and ceramics.
George was a member of the First Christian Church in Palo Alto, CA. and the Marina Unified Methodist Church in Marina, CA. He was a life member in the Lions Club in Palo Alto, San Andreas, Tulare and Marina, CA.
He also belonged to the SIRs, The Elks, and the VFW.
