Fred William Hill was born on October 17,1927, in Holliday, Texas, to Fred Keifer and Letha Mae (Fesperman) Hill. He passed away in Anaheim, California, on January 27, 2016 at the age of 88.
Fred was known as Bill by family and friends (or Billy by some). His early years were spent in Texas where he attended Geraldine Grade School and Archer City Middle School. The family moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1940 and there he attended Pipkin Jr. High School and Springfield High School.
He met LeVreta Woodall in school in Springfield. They were married on July 6, 1947 at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri. They were married 67 years, until her death in 2014.
After they were married, Bill and LeVreta moved to Joplin Missouri and also lived a short time in Independence Kansas, where their son and first daughter were born. Their second daughter was born in Missouri when they returned.
Bill worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. In 1958 he transferred with Firestone to Southern California and the family resettled in the LA area. He retired from Firestone after 46 years, maintaining friendships that were formed during his years working there. After retirement, he and LeVreta moved to Techachapi California, near their son Larry. They eventually moved back to the LA area, where their daughters live.
Bill supported LeVreta's passion for her desert tortoises. They both loved to take their 5th wheel trailer out camping and spent many of those trips in Joshua Tree National Park and along the California coast, usually with some of the kids along.
Bill loved cameras, taking pictures, and listening to music. He had a special interest in attending air shows at various military bases, and tinkering in the garage on many types of projects. The love of baseball and especially the LA Dodgers, found him at many a game, listening to Vin Scully, and keeping score on his own pad.
Bill spent this last year at Family Choice Sr. Living in Anaheim where he received loving care until his death. He spent baseball season listening to the games, often reminded of game times by Pat, who never let him down. Bill is survived by his children: son, Larry Hill (Sharon), daughter, Linda Christie, daughter, Diana Hill, grandchildren; Gina, Nyra, Johnny, Julie, Jamie and Larry Jr., 13 Great Grandchildren, and his sister, Frances Anderson.
