Filomena Cirigliano

Filomena Cirigliano, 87, was born February 13, 1925 in Cersosimo, Italy, to Guiseppe and Catarina (Santa Lucia) Luzzi. She passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at her home in La Mirada, California.



Filomena grew up and went to school in Italy. On October 19, 1942, she married Giovanni 'John' Cirigliano. She and John, along with their two eldest children, Jim and Cathy, moved to the United States in 1951 and made their home in Pico Rivera, California. Four additional children were added to the family: Vera, Yolanda, Joe and Lucia. After their children were raised, John built a home in La Mirada, California, where Filomena lived until the time of her death.



Family was always number one for Filomena. A very strong bond exists not only among her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also among she and her siblings. She was blessed with the opportunity to remain at home with her children while they were being raised, and she went on to care for both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while their parents were at work. Everyone else always came first to Filomena--she was a very loving and compassionate person who was so generous with her time. When she wasn't involved with family activities, Filomena enjoyed cooking and gardening.



A viewing will take place from 6-7pm on Monday, February 11, 2013, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St., Whittier, CA 90601. A Rosary will be led immediately thereafter (7pm). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following morning at 10:30 at Beatitudes of Our Lord Church, 13013 S. Santa Gertrudes Ave., La Mirada, CA 90638. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 N. Potrero Grande Dr., Montebello, CA 90640.
