Felipe grew up and went to school in Mexico and honorably served in the Mexican Army. On December 12, 1945, He married the love of his life, Carmen Campos, in Mexico. They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together and raised five children.

In his early 20s, Felipe immigrated to the US. He and Carmen made their home in Kingsburg, California, where he worked seasonally picking fruit and did handyman work in the off-season. They moved to LA County in 1956, and Felipe took a job working for La Victoria brand of Mexican Foods. He was with La Victoria for over 30 years until his retirement.

El Guy, as he was affectionately known, loved to sing and play his guitar. As a young man in Mexico, he was in a trio that was featured on the radio. He gave up singing professionally when he immigrated to the US, but he never stopped singing. When he pulled out his guitar and started singing, people were drawn to him. His smoking started to impact his voice, so he stopped cold-turkey. For Felipe, nothing would interfere with the joy of singing! In addition to singing, Felipe enjoyed gambling. He took many trips to Vegas, as well as to the Indian casinos in Southern California. The slots were his game of choice.

Felipe will be remembered as a loving and dedicated family man. He was kind and gentleone who never raised his voice. He will ever be respected by his family for the manner in which he cared and provided for them.
