Esther Gutierrez

Esther Gutierrez was born November 29, 1938 in El Paso, Texas, to Jose and Juanita Jimenez. She passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her home in Pico Rivera, California.



Esther grew up and went to school in El Paso, Texas. As a young woman she joined the US Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, California. While there, she met and fell in love with a fellow Marine, Rogerio Gutierrez. They were married in San Diego on September 18, 1959.



Following their military service, Esther and Rogerio made their home in Pico Rivera, California. Esther was blessed to be able to remain at home where she cared for their three children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her family.



In her later years, Esther became extremely involved in her community. She served as a city commissioner in Pico Rivera, she was an officer in the Pico Rivera Womens Club, and she did charity work for the Crafty Angels/Divas. A devout Catholic, Esther was very active at St. Hilary Church. She donated a St. Petegrine shrine to the church, a Saint known as the Cancer Saint.



Mrs. Gutierrez was very organized and passionate about all she did. She was a real giver and enjoyed serving others. Esther was well loved by all who knew her. She is also remembered as a good cook and a seamstress at heart.



Survivors include her husband, Rogerio; children, Yvonne (Alan) Harper, Kathy (Ruben) Silva, and Christopher (Maria) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Alexis (Andy) Georgia, Nicole Bergiadis, Gabriella Gutierrez, and Christian Gutierrez; and great-grandchildren, Teresa Bergiadis, Cadence Georgia, and Connor Georgia.
