Obituary Enrique R. Rivera



Enrique Rickie Rivera, 67, died suddenly on October 7, 2016, in Whittier, California. Viewing will take place from 10:0011:00am on Monday, October 17, 2016, at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St., Whittier, California. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00am. Military Honors and interment will take place at 9:45am the next day, Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, California.



Enrique was born May 6, 1949, in Los Angeles, California, to Enrique and Ernestina (Amador) Rivera. As a young boy his family moved from Los Angeles to Pomona, California where, he grew up and went to school. He went on to serve his country honorably as US Marine.



Following his military service, Enrique moved to Whittier, California, where he lived at the time of his death. He worked as an Energy Technician for The Gas Company for 30 years and was enjoying retirement.



Family was important to Enrique, and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an active individual who enjoyed running marathons, bicycling, hiking, and fishing. He was at home in the outdoorsand at Disneyland! He will be remembered as a caring, giving man with a great sense of humor.



Enrique is survived by his long-time girlfriend, Robin Coyle; his children, Marina (Trevor) Getty and Nathan Rivera; his mother, Ernestina Rivera; sisters, Cecilia Martinez, Laura Lopez, Sandra Hernandez, Irene Moonitz, and Anna Cardiel; and five grandchildren, Micah, Trevor Jr., Joseph, Dylan, and Connor.
