Dear Family and Friends,
With great sadness we write to tell you that yesterday, January 14, 2016, baby Emily Rose Marie Grumbine passed from our arms into the arms of our Lord in heaven. A 3-day struggle with a respiratory illness proved too much for her delicate heart to bear, and after exactly 37 days (to the hour) with her earthly family, Emily left us for a brighter world.
We are grateful that her passing was peaceful, and so very thankful to have known Emily for far more time than most families of Trisomy-18 babies receive. While on earth, her body was weak and her struggles constant; yet we know of her eternal body that although it is 'sown corruptible, it is raised incorruptible; it is sown dishonorable; it is raised glorious; it is sown weak; it is raised powerful.' (1 Corinthians 15:42-43) What joy Emily will have in a body not wracked by illness!
As our family grieves her passing, we are also reminded of the truly monumental love and support that all of you have shown to us during these precious weeks of Emily's life. Words will fail to thank you all adequately, but please know that your care and concern have been the highest support for us in a difficult time. We hold you in a deep place in our hearts. May our Lord reward you for your love shown.
