Ellen Margaret Gertrude (Nelson) Smith was born July 21, 1917 in Omaha, Nebraska to John Christian and Margaret Gertrude (Andersen) Nelsen. She passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Whittier.Ellen is survived by her daughter, Diane (Michael) Yancy; son, Dennis (Jerrianne) Smith; five grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Smith.A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., in Whittier, California.
