Elizabeth Isabelle Liz Oliva, 79, passed away at her home in Whittier on March 22, 2014. Born on October 6, 1934, Liz was born to Kristof & Elisabeth (Burch) Maschovsky in Benat, Yugoslavia. In 1956 she was married to Sergeant Macario Oliva who was in the United States Army whom she met while he was stationed in Germany.



Early on in life, Liz moved from Benat, Yugoslavia to reside in West Germany with her family. It wasnt until 1956, after marrying Macario, that she came to the United States. They lived in many different cities while Macario was stationed throughout the country before they finally moved to Whittier. She was a faithful homemaker, and some of her enjoyments in life included, collecting antiques, coin & stamp collecting, as well as gardening. Liz was also active at Victory Outreach Church in Whittier where her son, James C. Oliva, is one of the pastors on staff.



Liz is survived by her 8 children, Silvanna Maschovsky, Mary Oliva, Mike Oliva, James Oliva, Sylvia Fuentes, Carl Oliva, Macario Oliva, Jr., & Pete Oliva; 1 brother, Helmut Maschovsky; 44 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.



A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at 11:00AM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier. A Reception will immediately follow the funeral at Victory Outreach Church, 7626 Milton Ave, Whittier. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier.
