Edith Geraldine Goettsche, 87, passed away early Thursday morning, June 1, 2017. Viewing will take place from 9:30 to 10:30am on Monday, June 5, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), 5550 Ohio St., Yorba Linda, California, with a service at 11am. Interment will follow at Loma Vista Memorial Park, 701 E Bastanchury Road, Fullerton, California.

Jeri, as she was known, was born on March 25, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, the 8th of 9 children born to Carl Paul and Nettie Cora Lee (Jordan) Freudenberg. She grew up, went to school and fell in love in Chicago. In May of 1950 Jeri married the love of her life, John Orace Goettsche, in Chicago, and that same week they were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Jeri and John lived in Utah and Connecticut before settling in Orange County, California, 55 years ago. They were blessed with one daughter and seven sons. Family always came first for Jeri. She was a loving wife and mother and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family deeply and was deeply loved by them.

Sewing, dancing, reading and playing the piano were among Jeris hobbies. She was quite an accomplished seamstress and sewed her own clothes for a long time. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jeri found joy in serving in various capacities in the church. She also enjoyed studying LDS Church History and connecting with unknown relatives through genealogical research.

Jeri is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Rick) Kannard; sons, Dale (Teresa), Reid (Melissa), Rob (Barrie), Brad (Realaine), Jeff (Denise), and Jason (Tonya); daughter-in-law, Victoria Landerman; sisters, Christine Fogel, Helen Bird, Gladys Brunette, and Barbara DeVries; 31 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. Her beloved husband, John, and son, Brent, preceded her in death.
