Douglas Charles Sterling

Douglas C. Sterling passed away on February 13, 2025 at the age of 82 with his loving family by his side. Doug was born in San Diego in 1943 and lived his adult life in La Mirada, California.   Doug was a graduate of Biola University and Cal State Fullerton. After college, he married fellow Biola student Cheri, raising their three sons together in La Mirada, California. For over 40 years, he taught US History for the Anaheim Union School District where he was recognized as teacher of the year in 1997. Additionally, he earned his Masters Degree in Education at the University Redlands in 1976 and taught for National University from 1986 to 1996, instructing graduate level teachers.  Doug was a beloved father and grandfather who enjoyed playing soccer, watching Dodger baseball, model making, and spending quality time with his sons and grandchildren.  Doug is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Cheri, along with sons Dan (Stephanie), Doug II (Michelle), Eric (Nichole), and grandchildren Olivia, Eden, Avery, Nate, Elijah, and Makayla. He was predeceased by grandson Curtis.   The family would like to extend their gratitude to Jorge Salazar for his tender and comprehensive care of Doug these last 5 years.   A memorial service for Doug will be held at Fullerton Free Church Fireside Room Saturday, April 26th at 2pm.
