Ashby, Dorothy Welch, 95, passed away February 4, 2012. Born July 13, 1916 in Tombstone, AZ to Guy & Grace Welch, she grew up in Whittier, graduating from Whittier College in 1938. In 1936 she married W. Theron Ashby. After living in NY during WWII, they returned to California and lived in La Habra the rest of their lives.A life-long educator & librarian, she was librarian for the La Habra City Library, then a librarian at La Habra High School from 1959-1983. She also taught creative writing & poetry to adults for many years. Dorothy and Theron travelled the world until his death. In her later years Dorothy continued to enjoy travelling, reading & writing poetry. Since 1951 she was an active member of the La Habra Woman's Club, and a member of the La Habra Old Settlers Historical Society since its inception.She is survived by her son, Alan (Linda); grandsons, Scott & James Ashby; and sister Ola Florence Jobe. She is predeceased by her husband, Theron, and her sister, Arlene Guirado.Please join the family to share your memories of Dorothy and Theron at a reception on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00PM, La Habra Woman's Club, 200 W.
