Dora Romo Gurrola passed away on May 27, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Simons Brickyard, California. After she graduated from Montebello High School she worked in the defense industry. During World War II, she also met the love of her life, Rod Gurrola, whom she married on November 6, 1949 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Simons Brickyard. They made their home in South Whittier for 69 years along with their four daughters.
Dora loved God and her family. She was also an expert seamstress, loved entertaining, reading and working in her spectacular garden. She was well known for her generous spirit and being a devoted friend and neighbor.
Dora was predeceased by husband Rod and daughters Rosalee Gurrola Thompson and Rosanna Gurrola. She is survived by daughters Rosemary Gurrola and Rosalind Gurrola-Moore, grandson Ryan Thompson, great grandson Andrew Thompson, and sons-in-law Dean Thompson and Douglas Moore. She will also be missed by family and friends.
