Donald George Jensen went home to be with the Lord April 7, 2016 at his home in Whittier, California. Don was born on July 5, 1923 to Lillian and William Jensen. Don and his siblings grew up in Menasha, Wisconsin where their father had been the Mayor.
Upon completion of high school, Don entered military service and served for more than three years in the US Army during WWII. Two very important things happened during his time of service. Firstly, for the majority of his time in the Army he was stationed at both Fort Mac Arthur in San Pedro, California and Camp Pendleton also in California. Secondly, he would meet a beautiful young lady who was visiting from Duluth, Minnesota, Carol Isabel McLean. Don was Honorably Discharged from active service in February of 1946 and on August 30, 1946 Carol became his wife.
Don and Carol returned to Wisconsin where Don set his sights on finishing his education. He would finish his Bachelors degree in Psychology from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Upon finishing his education, Don and Carol decided to return to the state that brought them together, as well as to the sunshine of sunny Southern California and begin their family there. It has been home ever since.
Although Don was formally trained in Psychology, what he really enjoyed was interacting with people, and this translated very well into the area of sales. Don spent most of his career in sales, but not in a traditional sense. He worked in the area of Industrial Equipment, more specifically, large industrial pumps like the pumps that operate the Alaskan Pipeline. Therefore, he found himself with quite a unique and vast knowledge of this industry which would lead him from sales engineering to sales management with both Pacific Pump and Fluor Corporation.
Through the years, Don enjoyed golfing, he was an avid reader, and he loved to travel. But most important in his life was his dedication to his church. Don was an active member of the Grace Brethren Church and most recently of Whittier Hills Baptist Church in Whittier.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Carol and is survived by daughter Deborah Jensen, daughter Laurie Cahill and son Christopher Jensen; grandchildren, Andrew, Mark, Benjamin and Samuel Cahill; great-grandchild Evelyn Cahill; and also his sister, Ginny Penny.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at White-Emerson Mortuary Chapel, 13304 E. Philadelphia St. Whittier, Ca 90601 (562) 698-0304
