Dolores Maria O'Hara

Maria Dolores Dee OHara, 63, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Whittier, California, surrounded by her family. Born in Los Angeles, California on January 7, 1950, Dee was born to Genaro & Emilia (Diaz) Martinez. She was the proud mother of Diane Devlin and Sean OHara.



Growing up in southern California, Dee was a long-time resident of the Whittier/Pico Rivera area. She attended El Rancho High School before she began her career in the banking industry as a teller. She worked her way up to becoming a Loan & Title Office, and her organizations of employment included the Federal Reserve Bank office in Los Angeles and Kinecta Federal Credit Union (formerly Hughes Aircraft Federal Credit Union). Dee was quite accomplished in the banking industry, receiving multiple awards for her excellence in service to the profession.



When it came to Dees interests, she was a committed reality TV fan. Her favorite reality shows included: The Voice, Americas Got Talent, & Dancing with the Stars. When one of her favorite shows was not airing, she loved knitting and reading an intriguing book.



Her children, Diane & Sean, recall their mother as having, lots of character. They say she was always full of surprises. Dee would continuously jest with her kids, captivating their attention when she would say that she had, one wonderful child & one amazing child, but she would never reveal who was who. Yes, her life played a deeply significant role in her kids lives, one they will always be appreciative of.



Dee is survived by her two children Diane (James) Devlin and Sean OHara; and her siblings, Margaret Sonne, Jerry Martinez, Jr., and Christina Esquivel. Dee is preceded in death by her sister, Cecilia Martinez (2007).



A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 1:00PM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, CA 90601.
