Dennis Lee Lowry

August 19, 1955 — July 26, 2014

Dennis Lee Lowry was born August 19, 1955, in Whittier, California, to Donald and Faye (Chitty) Lowry. He passed away suddenly on July 26, 2014, in Whittier, California, at the age of 58.

When Dennis was a young boy, the family with brothers Don and Dean, moved to a dairy farm in Waterford, Pennsylvania, and then on to Hornell, New York, where Dennis graduated high school and met and married his wife, Phyllis. He owned several businesses in New York, where they raised three children: Timothy, Heidi and Mitchell. Timothy tragically died in early childhood and is buried in Hornell.

Finally tiring of the ice, snow and cold, the family returned to his roots in California in 1995. Dennis owned Dennis' Pool Service in Whittier, serving residential and commercial clients. He also served as treasurer for the International Pool and Spa Service Association for two years.

An avid numismatist, for many years Dennis operated Lowry's C&N Coin, which specialized in rare and vintage silver medallions and ingots, as well as collectible coins.

Family was the focus of Dennis's life. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Phyllis; his adult children, Heidi and Mitchell; and brother, Don. He is preceded in death by his son, Timothy, and a brother, Dean.

The viewing will be held at White-Emerson Mortuary from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Monday, August 4.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary's of the Assumption at 9:30AM, Tuesday, August 5.

Final internment will occur at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hornell, New York, next to his son, Timothy, after the family's deliberation.

Generally reserved for sailors ... but family and friends offer Dennis a respectful and affectionate, 'Fair Winds and Following Seas, Shipmate.'
