Dean Arthur 'Deano' Styx, 48, was born December 24, 1963 in Moline, Illinois to Dean Styx and Susan (Humberstone) Gass. He passed away, Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Whittier, California.Deano grew up and went to school in Moline, Illinois, graduating from Moline High School. He later went on to college at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL where he was a member of The Delta Chi Fraternity. He formed many life-long friendships in the fraternity. Most importantly, however, he met Carol Cedano.On November 28, 1992, Dean and Carol were married in Oak Lawn, Illinois. They made their home in Worth, Illinois until June of 1995 when they moved to Whittier, California. They have lived in Whittier since that time raising their three precious children, Dean, Emily and Tony. He had a great love for his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.Dean spent his professional career in finance in the entertainment and aerospace industries. However, sports were his life--the Vikings, Phillies and Flyers did not have a more faithful fan! He went to at least one Vikings game a year in Minnesota, and he always went to their games if they were playing in a neighboring state. He was proud of his membership with the So Cal Vikings Underground. 'Go Phillies' could often be found in connection with Dean. In short, if you ever spoke with him, you could count on the conversation making its way to sports. Deano will also be remembered for his wonderful wit.Family members include his wife, Carol; daughter, Emily; sons, Dean and Tony; parents, Dean (Lynn) Styx and Susan (Ron) Gass; sisters, Deanne (Nick) Angaran, Debbie (Mike) Peters; Shari (Tim) Thompson, Wendi (Tim) DeFauw, Kris (Dan) Robinson, and Julie (Eric) Justice; brothers, Dan Styx, Randy Gass, and Rick (Beth) Gass; grandmother, Betty Fosbinder; . Father and Mother in-law Cecilio 'Don' Cedano and the late Sue Ann Cedano; brother and sister in-law Jack and Dr. Elizabeth Blanco; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am on Friday, May 11, 2012 at St. Bruno Church, 15740 Citrustree Rd., Whittier, CA. Interment will immediately follow at Olive Lawn Memorial Park in La Mirada, CA.Family and friends, if they wish, may donate to the memorial fund that has been established in Dean's memory for the future education and benefit of his children.
