David Gordon Connett

David Gordon Connett, 81, peacefully passed on June 27, 2014 in Fullerton, California.



He was born July 23, 1932 in Piedmont, California to Mahlon Coleman Connett and Thelma Ann MacIntosh. He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1950 and attended the University of Nevada at Reno graduating with his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Army Signal Corp in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an electrical engineer in Northern California and in 1963 transitioned to Southern California working with Westinghouse Radiological Equipment. In 1972 he returned to school attending Granite Computer Institute and launched a new career as a computer programmer and systems analyst working at Record Data West and Poortinga Accounting Corporation, retiring in 2001. He was married on June 20, 1954 to Margaret Ann Sherry for over 52 years until she passed on December 1, 2005.



His passions included his family, over 25 years in the Mason's, Church Choir, Boy Scouts and computers. He was also very devoted to his church, Community Presbyterian Church of La Mirada, for over 20 years and held many leadership positions.



David is survived by his two children David Connett of Anaheim Hills, Mark Connett of Bartlesville Oklahoma, six grandchildren and three brothers, Robert Connett of Sacramento, Robert Hammill and Sydney Hammill of Walnut Creek and many loving & caring Connett & Hammill family members. Preceeding him in passing are: one Connett brother, one Hammill brother and one Hammill sister.
