David Chang Liao

David Chang Liao was born on January 5, 1944 in Taichung, Taiwan to Chao Chiang Liao and Rui Ju Liao-Huang. He passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 in Whittier, California.

David grew up in Taichung and attended Taichung First Senior High School. He then entered China Medical University in Taichung, where he obtained his doctorate in medicine. While in college, David also captained the university rugby team.

After obtaining his medical degree, David completed his residency at Cheng Ching Hospital. He then moved on to become an attending physician at Nantou Hospital Zhongxing Branch, where he eventually became the chief of general surgery. After several years in practice, David opened his own hospital in Nantou County and was the chief medical officer until he retired.

David married Angela Liao Cho in Taichung on December 3, 1972. To their marriage were born two children, their son Kuang Wei (Christopher) and daughter Chia Wei (Wendy) Liao.

In his spare time, David liked to swim, and enjoyed watching basketball and baseball games.

David is survived by his two children, Christopher and Wendy, and two brothers, Shang Chien Liao and Shang Min Liao.
