Darlene S. Born

Darlene Steinberg Born passed away, peacefully, on June 30, 2012 in Westminster, California. Darlene was born to William and Vera (Malzahn) Steinberg on August 7, 1933 in Easton, Minnesota. On June 11, 1954 Darlene was married to Douglas J. Born in Mankato, Minnesota. They were married for 35 years until his death on September 9, 1989.Growing up in Minnesota, Darlene worked as a telephone operator after her high school graduation. She held this job until her first child was born in 1957. Then in December, 1959 she and her immediate family moved to Whittier, California.Darlene loved taking trips with the La Mirada Gadabouts. Among other things she also loved going to garage sales and attending her grandchildren's sporting and musical events. She was also involved with the Faith Lutheran Church in Whittier.She is survived by her three sons: Terry (Mary Jane) Born of Placentia, California, Randy (Kim) Born of Whittier, California, Craig (Raquel) Born of Placentia, California, and 6 grandchildren (Ashley, Natalie, Eric, Brandon, Chad and Jennifer Born).A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11:00AM at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier.
