Darlene Ann Kintz

August 25, 1936 — January 23, 2017

Darlene Ann Kintz was born August 25, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Walter Jewett and Elsie Helen (Butcher) Tobias. The eldest of four children, she had one sister and two brothers. Darlene grew up and went to school in Milwaukee, graduating High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation she moved to Michigan to live with a friend. Darlene decided to visit the Mormon Church at her friends invitation, and she felt really comfortable there. She agreed to listen to the missionaries, and by November 1955, she was baptized.

Garry Kintz, a ward member, asked her out on a date. She really admired his commitment to the gospel and his dedication to member missionary work. After dating for about 6 months, they were married on April 28, 1956, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In June of 1957, they traveled with their 3 month old daughter, Laura, to California. They made an important stop along the way in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed to each other and to their daughter in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 17, 1957.

Arriving in Whittier, California, they rented a home near Cal High. Their next two children, Martha and Clif, were born there. In 1960, they moved into their present home, where their last 2 children, Lyle and Gail, joined their family.

Darlene loved to sew. She made clothes for her children, grandchildren and herself. She enjoyed making bone pillows. She also enjoyed reading--especially mysteries. Above all, Darlene loved her family and the Lord. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was especially happy when serving others. Serving in the Primary as a teacher and as a Nursery Leader were among many fond memories.

Darlene will be remembered for her loving nature and her beautiful smile. She was sweet, kind and caring to all, and she always had a smile on her face.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Garry L. Kintz; her sister, Barbara Eiler; and her children and their families as follows:
