Daniel Riojas Torres was born in Los Angeles, California on August 1, 1957 to Joe and Marietta Torres. Dan was the youngest of five children. He grew up in Montebello, California and attended and graduated from Montebello High School.
Dan had a career as a steel worker for over 15 years. In addition to his professional life, he had many hobbies. He enjoyed fishing and planned many family deep sea fishing trips. He also played the saxophone and enjoyed music. His brothers and sister describe him as the person to call when you needed something; whether that was advice, or handyman assistance, he was always there.
On March 12, 2014 Dan passed away suddenly at his home in Whittier and was reunited with Vivian, his wife of 27 years, who had passed just nine months before him. He leaves behind his four siblings, Joe, Greg, Richard and Mari-Jo, his 8 nieces and nephews, Ralph, Selina, Raelene, Roseanne, Rochelle, Zachary, Josh and Richard, his step-son Jessie and many extended family members and dear friends.
Services will be held at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier, California on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Viewing and visitation will begin at 9:30am, the funeral service will begin at 10:30am followed by burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Montebello, California.
