Charles "Charlie" Alan Walton

Charles Charlie Alan Walton, 78, passed away on January 16, 2015 in Whittier, California. Born in Drumright, Oklahoma on May 1, 1936, Charlie was born to his parents Ernest & Ruby (Norris) Walton.



Charlie spent his early years growing up in Oklahoma. He moved to Merced, California with his family where he would graduate high school at Merced High School. At age 20, Charlie joined the United States military and served his country for 23 years until he retired in 1979 as a Technical Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed most of his stations in the military, as the majority of his service was spent in the pacific. Charlie specialized in radar and electronics, and he maintained an interest in these fields even after his service.



When it came to personal interests, Charlie was a dedicated sports fan. He especially loved baseball, football and horse racing. His favorite franchises to follow were the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. When he wasnt cheering for his sports teams, he was busy learning about his own familys history. He had a passion for genealogy and took pride in his familys heritage.



Charlie is survived by his niece, Linda (Crotts) Elmore, Spokane, WA and his nephew, Jim Crotts, Palm Springs, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Ruby (Norris) Walton; his sister, Irene (Walton) Crotts; and his brothers, Bob & Bill Walton.



A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:15AM at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to a military service organization of your choice in memory of Charlie.
