Beulah Eileen Luhmann (Eileen L. Luhmann)

Beulah Eileen Lomax was born near Wilsonville, NE May14, 1922 to Lewis and Inez (Sears) Lomax. She departed this life on August 27, 2017 in Whittier CA. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1939. After being awarded a Regents scholarship to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, she attended there for two years.
Eileen married Gilbert A. Luhmann from Holbrook, NE on August 10, 1941. They farmed for one year until Gilbert joined the Army Air Corp as a navigator during World War II. Eileen shared many adventures as she followed him from various training posts in the states. To this union one son, Lyndon Ray, was born.
While Gilbert was stationed in Europe, she taught in Naponee, NE high school for one year. After the war ended, she and Gilbert settled in Southern California where Gilbert completed his engineering degree while Eileen worked for various companies as an executive secretary and accountant. She continued working in those capacities when Gilbert was called up for the Korean conflict and was gone another year. She retired in 1989 and began volunteer work as a bookkeeper for a charity organization.
Eileen and Gilbert loved to travel and after Korea had their own airplane. They flew all over the United States, parts of Canada, Mexico and Alaska. They visited over 50 countries.
She was preceded in death by Gilbert, son Lyndon, parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 16, at 11 a.m., White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia St., Whittier, CA 90601.
