Betty M. Acosta passed away on May 3, 2019 at the age of 90 in Whittier, California. She was born on April 20, 1929 to Raymond and Jesse Aguirre in Whittier and later attended Lydia Jackson Elementary School. Betty lived for many years with her family in the home her father built on Bright Avenue in uptown Whittier. She became known among family and friends in the community for her great babysitting skills.

Betty married her first boyfriend and soulmate, Lawrence C. Acosta, in Yuma, Arizona. Together they settled in Whittier and started a family and spent the rest of their lives together. Betty enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Gaynor; grandchildren, Javier Padilla, Leanna Padilla-Vargas, Kevin Gaynor; great grandchild, Isaiah Vargas; sister, Maureen Sanchez. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Acosta, of 44 years; her God-Daughter, Cathy Sanchez of Whittier, California; 6 Siblings: Christina Lopez, Dora Garcia, Victoria Lopez, Angel Albitre, Pauline Olmedo of Whittier, California, Raymond Aguirre, Jr. of Apple Valley, California.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 11th at White Emerson Mortuary (13304 E Philadelphia St., Whittier, California, 90601) followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery (966 Potrero Grande Dr, Rosemead, CA 91770) at 1:30pm.
