Bernadette Seymour passed away last week after battling dementia for the past several years. Born on June 8th, 1929, in Markville, Minnesota, she lived a long and fruitful life as a Whittier resident having moved to the city in the late 1950s shortly after marrying the love of her life, Elliott Seymour, in 1955. Elliott died in 2000 of a pulmonary embolism. Facing deteriorating physical and mental health, Bernadette pushed on for another 14 and a half years with the faithful aid of her family, especially her daughter, Mary Jane, who enabled her to spend the majority of her remaining years at home. A multiple cancer survivor, her health finally failed her while she slept on December 10th, 2014. She is survived by 4 children, Mary Jane De la Pena (Whittier), Doug Seymour (Oregon), Bob Seymour (Wisconsin), and Bill Seymour (Pennsylvania), as well as 7 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild. Her Rosary/Viewing will be Thursday, December 18th, from 4pm to 8pm at White-Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier, CA. The Funeral is set for Friday, December 19, at 11am at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 900 W. La Habra Blvd., La Habra, CA. She will be interred at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2161 S. Fullerton Rd., Rowland Heights, CA. Bernadettes family was the center of her life and she will be remembered for her love and laughter.
